Among its recent completed transactions, BestValue was involved in the transfer of an extraordinary business: The Maze of Durbuy, a highly regarded tourist “institution.” How did this transaction unfold? A look back at the key stages of this sale.
Every summer, the Labyrinth, a vast 11-hectare site near Durbuy, opens its doors to both young and old adventurers eager to lose themselves in its paths and solve the puzzles that will lead them to the exit. Leading this initiative were Fabienne Delvaux and Jean-Luc Arendt.
After twenty years dedicated to the Labyrinth, the owners were eager to pass the torch. However, navigating the maze of business transmission is not always easy. Wisely, they decided to turn to BestValue for guidance throughout the process and to support them during the negotiations.
What did they offer to potential buyers?
An original and rich concept, an iconic tourist attraction that has proven its worth over the years, and a unique know-how.
By the end of 2020, despite the health crisis and the numerous uncertainties associated with it, things began to accelerate. Ultimately, the group led by Marc Coucke was selected to take the reins of the organization. For the sellers, the new management needed to be in place by the upcoming summer, the peak tourist season in the region. To ensure a smooth and lasting transition, the Labyrinth’s guardians also offered several months of support to the buyers, allowing them time to plan, organize, and prepare for the upcoming season, thus passing on the know-how developed over many years at the helm of the organization.
As a new chapter is about to begin, what do the parties involved in this transaction take away from the experience? The sellers highlight BestValue’s involvement in their project, as well as the structure and synthesis provided by the team to build a professional and successful transfer. And on the buyers’ side? “BestValue? A diligent and professional partner!”
